THE LUCKIEST PUPPY IN THE WORLD!!!
Thanks to the efforts of her foster mom, AFBC volunteer, Dot Hayhurst, Jessie survived a bout of parvovirus that took the lives of several of her littermates. That made her a lucky puppy! Then -- she became Michael's very best friend!! That made her the luckiest puppy in the world!!
It's hard to tell who's happier in these photos --
Michael or Jessie?
Jessie's 'Mom' reports that Jessie's doing very well. She's already housebroken and loves sleeping with her Grand Dad! She also loves playing in the yard.
Marilyn -- thanks for sharing this wonderful news and the great photos with us!!

Chelsea -- the pup
Chelsea -- at 8 months
CHELSEA -- ALL GROWN UP!!
We've had a update from David Starr and Jessica Mirabito on Chelsea, the Barbour puppy they adopted.
David writes -- "She is extremely energetic and playful. Her favorite things to do are to play catch and to stare at the ducks in the river. She loves to greet people when they enter the house with a nice hand (or paw) shake. Chelsea is a very clumsy and goofy dog. She has been known to trip over her own paws as she is walking. She has gotten very big. She is 8 months old now and weighs almost 65 pounds. Chelsea has become a very important part of the family and is loved very much."
Thanks for the update! She's a real beauty!!
LOOK AT ME NOW!!
We got this photo and an e-mail from the Jon Ellis family about their new puppy Sadie.
Jon and Janet Ellis live in Chester, NJ with their children, Andrew, 10 and Lauren, 13 who are pictured here holding Sadie. Those big smiles tell us that these young folks are thrilled with the newest addition to their family -- and Sadie is in love with them, too!
They've promised to keep sending progress reports as Sadie grows up -- and we'll be watching our e-mail so we can share their 'love story' with you.
The Kline family adopted Barbour dog, Rosie and sent the following e-mail to Kim, Rosie's AFBC foster mom . . .
. . . We're beginning day three with her and she's fitting in beautifully! She came up to bed with the rest of the crew last night and hopped right on up, laid down and began chewing on a nylabone. Our intention was to let her hang out with the guys for an hour or so and then put her beside the bed in her little crate. Well, Dennis (who is smitten with her) INSISTED that he'd get up and put her in her crate a little later, so I fell asleep. I awoke this morning to find them both snoring with his arm wrapped around her. So I guess she's done with sleeping in the crate! Ha! Ha!
She really has no concept of her little size. Our other dogs are a 12-year old, 90 pound chocolate lab, an 8-year old, 75 pound pit bull mix, and a 92 pound two-year old golden retriever. You would think Rosie would be intimidated -- NOT -- she jumps right in the middle of them insisting that she's their equal. It's a hoot!
. . . Take care and THANK YOU SO MUCH for saving her and for sending us this little bundly of joy!
Sincerely,
Monica Kline
It just doesn't get any better than this! Happy dog -- happy family! Thanks for the news, Monica. We'll look forward to hearing from you again!
ROSIE AT HOME . . .
MORE FROM ROSIE . . .
ROSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS!
Monica recently sent these new photos and an update for us . . .
"Remember 'Josie and the Pussycats'? Well, I give you 'Rosie and the Pussycats'!!
I took these shots yesterday afternoon while working at home. The black and white Maine Coon is Fraidy Cat (who recently celebrated his 4th birthday) and the red and white Main Coon is Moose. They each outweigh Rosie by about seven or eight pounds. She loves to chase them through the house. They run like crazy with her barking and them hissing at her. Then, they all call it off and go lay down somewhere to take a nap."
Monica has also told us that Rosie is starting her obedience lessons with an eye toward becoming a registered Therapy Dog.
Keep the photos and updates coming, Monica! We love sharing Rosie's antics!
TALBOTT DOG JASMINE . . .
Stacy and Brendan O'Neill adopted Talbott dog, Jasmine (also known as Jazzy Mae) from AFBC through Amy's Catahoula Rescue. Stacy sent us these photos and news about Jazzy . . .
"Jasmine is very easy-going. She is up for anything -- cuddling on the couch or a hike in the woods. She enjoys long walks exploring our community. She LOVES car rides, the longer the better. She gets along well with all the other dogs -- she has quite a few friends in our neighborhood. Her favorite is Misty, a Golden Retriever a few houses down. She went on her first camping trip in May and loved it. She made several friends at the campground. Jazzy and Sadie (our first dog) get along great -- they're like sisters now! They act like they've been together forever. They run around the house while we are at work and oftentimes I find them curled up on the couch napping when I get home. At night they sleep side by side on the sofa in our room. Last week they each had a bath and were trying to help each other out of the tub. Then, when I was putting one's harness back on, the other would jump up and try to kiss me -- I think so I would forget and let them run around naked. (It worked, too; I let them run around collar-less for a couple of hours.) They like to play the 'look at me' game when it comes to clipping their nails, too. Whoever is getting their nails clipped, the other rushes to her aid and tries to get in between us. They are so cute together! We have thoroughly enjoyed our time with both dogs and look forward to many happy years together."
Stacy & Brendan O'Neill
Jazzy is, indeed, a fortunate girl! For her to have come from a neglectful environment into this warm, loving home is surely a dream come true for her!! Thank you for sharing her story.
