Melissa and Luc sent us this great picture of Nelly taken on her first birthday.  Nelly is one of the Kasson Dog pups that Dot Hayhurst fostered last year.  Isn't she beautiful?  Needless to say, Nelly is a cherished member of the family!
This handsome fella was rescued from the Barbour County Shelter this past summer thanks to the efforts of Marion Lindsay.  Marion had promoted Marshall on her rescue site and Jody, a member of the Justlabradors.com online forum   rescued   Marshall  from   our     shelter. Marion   continued    her  efforts  to  find  a permanent home for him.  Enter Sandi -- who trains police dogs and just happened to be looking for a lab to train.  Marshall looked like the perfect candidate!  Jody got Marshall on a transport where he was picked up by the police dog trainer.  As his training at the academy progressed, he demonstrated a "phenomenal" talent for explosives detection.  Today Marshall is happily at work in Knoxville, TN as an explosives detection dog!
EXCEPTIONAL DOG!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!                        Love,
     Peanut & Yueng
Peanut was fostered last winter by Dot Hayhurst and adopted in February by Julie Pfeifenroth. Their special relationship  can all be summed up in Julie's statement . . .

"He is such an unbelievable joy -- especially when I come home and he dances and smiles for me."

Peanut has an older "brother", Yueng.  Although
Peanut doesn't take any "flak" from Yueng, they have become quite fond of one another -- always looking around to be sure the other is close by.
According to Julie, Peanut is not quite so skittish now -- he puts on a brave face and barks his head off at other people and dogs.  Of course he stops as soon as Julie picks him up.

Julie ends her note to us saying, "I am so happy and lucky to have Peanut in my life."
Well, Julie -- Peanut is lucky to have you!  We always hope our pets get homes like yours.
WHAT'S IN A PICTURE . . . ?

Well -- sometimes stuff you don't want in the picture!  Our volunteers got a good laugh out of these  photos (taken on the same day)  of two of our MALE shelter dogs.  See the little "Smiley Face"?  Guess what it's hiding??  Good thing our Web Master has an eye for detail, or we may have been guilty of posting X-Rated photos!
A "STARR" COMES HOME!

This sweet Barbour County pup, now named Chelsea, has been adopted by David and Jessica Starr of Chenango Forks, NY.  They are "thrilled to have Chelsea as a new addition to their lives"!  She's adjusted well to her new life, and her new friends -- labs, shepherds and a St. Bernard.  And she has her eye on the river in her backyard -- just waiting for warmer weather to take a lovely swim!  Of course, naps need to be taken on fluffy things.

What a lucky little girl!
A KASSON DOG IN NEW YORK CITY!

Blue, now known as Cleo, was one of the Kasson dogs that Dot Hayhurst fostered last year.  She was adopted by Linda Walsh who works in New York City's famed Rockefeller Plaza.  Cleo is also lucky enough to have a country place to play in Vermont.

Says Linda of Cleo -- "She is just amazing; intelligent, loving.  Words cannot describe the incredible creature she has blossomed into!"  Cleo quickly overcame her shyness and now sasses her big brother, Baxter (also a border collie mix) and pushes him around.

Such a happy story about a dog truly deserving of a wonderful home!  Thank you, Linda.
